Canadian government establishes key minerals working group

According to MiningWeekly, Canadian Minister of Natural Resources Seamus O’Regan recently revealed that a federal-provincial-territory collaborative working group has been established to develop key mineral resources.
Relying on abundant key mineral resources, Canada will build a mining industry-battery industry whole industry chain.
Not long ago, the Canadian House of Commons held a meeting to discuss key mineral supply chains and what role Canada should play in the domestic and global lithium-ion battery ecosystem.
Canada is very rich in key mineral resources, including nickel, lithium, cobalt, graphite, copper and manganese, which can provide a source of raw materials for the electric vehicle supply chain.
However, Simon Moores, Manager of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, believes that Canada should focus on how to convert these key minerals into high-value chemicals, cathodes, anode materials, and even consider the production of lithium-ion batteries.
Building a complete value chain can create employment and development opportunities for northern and remote communities.
